Your data, explained plainly

PlacedToday, Inc., a Delaware corporation doing business as "Placed Today" ("Placed Today," "we," "us," or "our"), respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information in connection with the Placed Today mobile application (the "App"), the website at https://placed.today/ (the "Website"), and related services (collectively, the "Services").

This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms of Service.

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect through the Services from users in the markets where the Services are currently offered: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to information collected by third parties, including third-party platforms you choose to connect to the Services, except to the extent that information is transmitted to and processed by us as described below.

As used in this Privacy Policy, "Personal Information" means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular individual, and includes "personal data" or equivalent terminology as defined under applicable privacy law (including the GDPR and UK GDPR). Where a specific privacy law uses a different or narrower statutory term, this Privacy Policy uses that term where appropriate to preserve its intended legal meaning.

We collect the categories of information described in this Privacy Policy, including information you provide directly, professional and career information, resumes and documents you upload, information from services you connect, information obtained from certain third-party sources, job-related information, information generated by our AI systems, and technical and usage information.

When you create an Account using Apple, Google, or LinkedIn, and as you use the Services, you may provide us with your name, contact information, and other information made available by your chosen identity provider, as well as information you enter directly into the App, such as onboarding responses, career preferences, and support requests.

To provide career support, we collect professional information you choose to share, which may include your professional experience, employment history, education, certifications, skills, career goals and target roles, job preferences, LinkedIn URL, resume/CV, projects, languages, professional summary, interview and application information, networking and referral information, and feedback you submit.

You may upload a resume to the Services. We currently support PDF format, with additional format support under active development. Uploaded resumes are processed by our AI systems, as described in Section 10, to build and enhance your career profile.

When you use the Services, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain technical and usage information, such as device information, app interactions, and approximate (state-level) location, to operate, secure, and improve the Services. Additional information about analytics and advertising technologies is provided in Section 20.

If you choose to connect your email inbox, calendar, or LinkedIn account, we receive information from those services as necessary to provide the corresponding features, described further in Sections 14 and 15. You control these connections and may disconnect them at any time within the App.

We work with third-party professional-data providers to help identify hiring managers and other professional contacts relevant to your job search, and to obtain publicly available or commercially licensed professional contact information, such as a name, email address, or LinkedIn identifier. This information generally concerns third parties rather than you, and supports the networking features of the Services, as described in Section 17.

We retrieve job-posting information from third-party data providers, described in Section 18, and store it internally to improve the speed and relevance of job suggestions shown to you. This information generally concerns employers and open roles rather than you personally.

The Services use artificial intelligence to process your professional information and generate personalized career content. Your resume and profile information may be processed through AI infrastructure that routes requests to large language models, and chat-, voice-, and video-based AI features are provided using additional third-party AI technologies, each described further in Section 19. Following initial AI processing, your information is further analyzed by Placed Today's own internal recommendation system, which generates the suggestions and career content you see in the App.

We may use aggregated feedback you provide to improve our internal recommendation systems and the Services generally. We encourage you to review the privacy terms of our third-party AI providers, referenced in Section 19, for additional information about how they handle information they process on our behalf.

We use the information described in this Privacy Policy to: provide, operate, and personalize the Services; build and update your career profile; generate AI-powered recommendations and content; enable connected-service features; facilitate professional networking; process your Subscription; send service, account, and, where authorized, marketing communications; provide customer support; maintain the security and integrity of the Services; comply with legal obligations; and improve the Services, including our internal recommendation systems.

Where the General Data Protection Regulation or UK GDPR applies, we process personal information on the following legal bases, as applicable: performance of a contract with you; our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Services, balanced against your rights and interests; your consent, where required (for example, for certain marketing communications); and compliance with a legal obligation.

We share information with service providers who process it on our behalf to operate the Services, subject to appropriate contractual protections. These providers include the connectivity, professional-data, job-data, and AI providers described in Sections 14 through 19, as well as hosting, analytics, and advertising providers described in Section 20. We do not sell your personal information for money.

If you connect your email or calendar through Google, we can access your inbox and calendar to allow you to view relevant messages and events, draft communications using AI assistance, and, only after your confirmation, send emails or create and modify calendar events on your behalf. Calendar information we retain is limited to the trailing three months plus current and upcoming events. You may disconnect this integration at any time within the App.

If you connect your LinkedIn account, we can allow you to view your LinkedIn inbox and, only after your confirmation, send connection requests and messages. Placed Today is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by LinkedIn Corporation, and information you access through a connected LinkedIn account remains subject to LinkedIn's own privacy policy in addition to this Privacy Policy.

We use Unipile, a connectivity and automation service provider, to enable the email and LinkedIn integrations described in Sections 14 and 15. Unipile processes the account, email, and LinkedIn information necessary to provide these features on our behalf.

We use Apollo, a professional-data provider, to help identify hiring managers relevant to your job search and to obtain their professional contact information, such as an email address or LinkedIn identifier. This information concerns third parties, not you, and is used solely to support the networking features of the Services.

We use third-party job-data providers, including TheirStack and RapidAPI-connected data sources, to retrieve job-posting information, which we store internally to improve the speed and relevance of the job suggestions shown to you.

We use the following categories of third-party AI infrastructure and model providers to power the Services: infrastructure that routes resume and profile-processing requests to large language models operated by providers including Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI; chat-based AI features using models provided by Google and OpenAI; voice features provided by ElevenLabs; and video features provided by Google. These providers process information as necessary to provide the applicable AI functionality, subject to the contractual terms and data-processing arrangements applicable to our relationship with those providers.

We work with analytics and advertising partners, including Firebase, Meta, Google, and TikTok, to help us understand how the Services are used and to support our advertising activities. These partners may collect device and app-activity information for these purposes.

We do not sell personal information for money. Depending on how our analytics and advertising tools are configured, certain data shared with these partners for advertising purposes may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under certain U.S. state privacy laws, even though no money changes hands. Where applicable, you have rights with respect to this activity, as described in Sections 27 and 28.

Our Website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate and improve the site. Within the App, similar identifiers may be used by the analytics and advertising technologies described in Section 20, subject to your device's permission settings, including Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework where applicable.

We retain your account and profile information while your Account remains active. If your Account is inactive for two years, we will delete the associated account data in accordance with our data retention practices.

If you delete your Account, we delete your account profile and associated history, except that your resume is retained to support the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. We may also retain information for longer periods where necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, maintain security, or enforce our agreements.

You may delete your Account at any time using the in-app account-deletion feature. Upon deletion, we delete your profile, onboarding responses, and usage history, other than your resume, as described in Section 22, and disconnect any connected third-party integrations. Copies of your information may persist temporarily in encrypted backups. Deleting your Account does not automatically cancel an active Subscription; you must separately cancel through your Apple ID settings.

Placed Today is based in the United States, and personal information we collect may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate, which may have data protection laws that differ from those of your country of residence. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards recognized under applicable law for cross-border transfers of personal information.

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The Services are intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an Account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete it.

If you reside in a U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law in effect, you may have rights to access, delete, correct, and port your personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising or the sale or sharing of personal information, subject to the requirements and exceptions of the applicable law. You may exercise these rights as described in Section 32.

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (the "CCPA"), gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; the right to delete personal information; the right to correct inaccurate personal information; the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

We do not sell personal information for money. As described in Section 20, certain advertising-related data sharing may constitute "sharing" under the CCPA. Where required, we provide notice at or before the point of collection describing the categories of personal information collected and the purposes for which they will be used. You may submit a CCPA request as described in Section 32; we will verify your request using information reasonably necessary to confirm your identity.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict processing of your personal information, the right to data portability, the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our AI-driven recommendations, described in Section 10, are informational in nature; Placed Today does not use automated processing to make a decision producing a legal or similarly significant effect concerning you without your own decision-making role in whether and how to act on any recommendation.

If you are located in the United Kingdom, you have rights under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 corresponding to those described in Section 29, and may lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

If you are located in Canada, our handling of your personal information is subject to applicable Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and applicable provincial equivalents; you may request access to or correction of your personal information as described in Section 32.

If you are located in Australia, we handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), to the extent applicable to our organization; you may request access to or correction of your personal information, or raise a concern, as described in Section 32, and, if unresolved, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. If you are located in New Zealand, corresponding rights are available to you under the Privacy Act 2020, and you may contact the Office of the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner if a concern remains unresolved.

You can exercise many of your rights directly within the App, such as by editing your profile, disconnecting a connected account, or deleting your Account. To exercise other rights described in this Privacy Policy, please contact us at support@placed.today. We will respond to verifiable requests within the timeframe required by applicable law.

The Services may contain links to or content from third-party websites and services, including job listings and learning content. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing them with information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App, by email, or by other reasonable means before the changes take effect.
