Your data, explained plainly

PlacedToday, Inc., a Delaware corporation doing business as "Placed Today" ("Placed Today," "we," "us," or "our"), respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information in connection with the Placed Today mobile application (the "App"), the website at https://placed.today/ (the "Website"), and related services (collectively, the "Services").

This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms of Service.

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect through the Services from users in the markets where the Services are currently offered: the United States and Canada.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to information collected by third parties, including third-party platforms you choose to connect to the Services, except to the extent that information is transmitted to and processed by us as described below.

As used in this Privacy Policy, "Personal Information" means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular individual, and includes "personal data" or equivalent terminology as defined under applicable privacy law (including the GDPR and UK GDPR). Where a specific privacy law uses a different or narrower statutory term, this Privacy Policy uses that term where appropriate to preserve its intended legal meaning.

We collect the categories of information described in this Privacy Policy, including information you provide directly, professional and career information, resumes and documents you upload, information from services you connect, information obtained from certain third-party sources, job-related information, information generated by our AI systems, and technical and usage information.

When you create an Account using Apple, Google, or LinkedIn, and as you use the Services, you may provide us with your name, contact information, and other information made available by your chosen identity provider, as well as information you enter directly into the App, such as onboarding responses, career preferences, and support requests.

To provide career support, we collect professional information you choose to share, which may include your professional experience, employment history, education, certifications, skills, career goals and target roles, job preferences, LinkedIn URL, resume/CV, projects, languages, professional summary, interview and application information, networking and referral information, and feedback you submit.

You may upload a resume to the Services. We currently support PDF and DOCX format, with additional format support under active development. Uploaded resumes are processed by our AI systems, as described in Section 10, to build and enhance your career profile, and are retained to provide and improve the Services, including to improve the recommendations, responses, and profile intelligence generated for you. We are also exploring functionality that may, in the future, help connect users with employers; that functionality is not currently active, and we will provide updated notice and, where required, obtain any necessary consent before activating it.

When you use the Services, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain technical and usage information, such as device information, app interactions, and approximate (state-level) location, to operate, secure, and improve the Services. Additional information about analytics and advertising technologies is provided in Section 20.

If you choose to connect your email inbox, calendar, or LinkedIn account, we receive information from those services as necessary to provide the corresponding features, described further in Sections 14 and 15. You control these connections and may disconnect them at any time within the App. When you disconnect a connected account, we delete the applicable data we obtained through that integration from our active systems, subject to limited legal, security, or backup exceptions described in Section 22. Disconnecting an integration within the Services does not delete or otherwise affect your underlying Google or LinkedIn account, which remains governed by your relationship with that provider.

We work with third-party professional-data providers to help identify hiring managers and other professional contacts relevant to your job search, and to obtain publicly available or commercially licensed professional contact information, such as a name, email address, or LinkedIn identifier. This information generally concerns third parties rather than you, and supports the networking features of the Services, as described in Section 17. If there is something that we need to help clarify or look into you may reach out to us.

We retrieve job-posting information from third-party data providers, described in Section 18, and store it internally to improve the speed and relevance of job suggestions shown to you. This information generally concerns employers and open roles rather than you personally.

The Services use artificial intelligence to process your professional information and generate personalized career content. Your resume and profile information may be processed through AI infrastructure that routes requests to large language models, and chat-, voice-, and video-based AI features are provided using additional third-party AI technologies, each described further in Section 19. Following initial AI processing, your information is further analyzed by Placed Today's own internal recommendation system, which generates the suggestions and career content you see in the App.

We use an internal profile and data-selection layer designed to control and limit the categories of information we submit to third-party AI providers to what is necessary to provide the applicable AI functionality. Based on our current implementation, we do not intentionally transmit direct contact details, such as your email address or phone number, to third-party AI providers; those providers may still receive professional and career-related information (for example, work history, skills, or resume content) necessary to generate the requested AI Output. Different providers support different functions, as described in Section 19.

We may use aggregated feedback you provide to improve our internal recommendation systems and the Services generally. We encourage you to review the privacy terms of our third-party AI providers, referenced in Section 19, for additional information about how they handle information they process on our behalf.

We use the information described in this Privacy Policy to: provide, operate, and personalize the Services; build and update your career profile; generate AI-powered recommendations and content; enable connected-service features; facilitate professional networking; process your Subscription; send service, account, and, where authorized, marketing communications; provide customer support; maintain the security and integrity of the Services; comply with legal obligations; and improve the Services, including our internal recommendation systems.

Where the General Data Protection Regulation or UK GDPR applies, we process personal information on the following legal bases, as applicable: performance of a contract with you; our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Services, balanced against your rights and interests; your consent, where required (for example, for certain marketing communications); and compliance with a legal obligation.

Where Canadian privacy law applies, we collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent, which may be express or implied depending on the sensitivity of the information and the purposes involved. We obtain express consent before connecting an email, calendar, or LinkedIn account, and for any purpose you would not reasonably expect. You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by disconnecting the applicable integration or deleting your Account as described in Sections 7 and 23. Withdrawing consent may mean we are unable to provide some or all of the Services.

We share information with service providers who process it on our behalf to operate the Services, subject to appropriate contractual protections. These providers include the connectivity, professional-data, job-data, and AI providers described in Sections 14 through 19, as well as hosting, analytics, and advertising providers described in Section 20. We do not sell your personal information for money.

If you connect your email or calendar through Google, we can access the following, solely to provide the corresponding feature: for Gmail, the ability to view relevant messages in your inbox and, only after your confirmation, send a message on your behalf; and for Google Calendar, the ability to view relevant events and create new calendar events on your behalf. We do not access, and this integration does not provide, broader access to your Google Account beyond what is necessary for these features. Calendar information we retain is limited to the trailing three months plus current and upcoming events. You may disconnect this integration at any time within the App; upon disconnection, we delete the applicable Gmail and Calendar data we obtained through the integration, as described in Section 22.

14A. Google API Services Limited Use Disclosure

Placed Today's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically:

• We use Google user data only to provide and improve the user-facing features described in Section 14.
• We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
• We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide these features, to comply with applicable law, or in connection with a merger or acquisition following notice to you.
• We do not use Google user data for advertising purposes.
• We do not allow humans to read Google user data except with your affirmative consent, to comply with applicable law, for security purposes, or where the data has been aggregated and de-identified.

If you connect your LinkedIn account, we can allow you to send LinkedIn connection requests, and to receive and, only after your confirmation, send LinkedIn messages. Placed Today is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by LinkedIn Corporation, and information you access through a connected LinkedIn account remains subject to LinkedIn's own privacy policy in addition to this Privacy Policy. You may disconnect this integration at any time within the App; upon disconnection, we delete the applicable LinkedIn data we obtained through the integration, as described in Section 22.

We use Unipile, a connectivity and automation service provider, to enable the email and LinkedIn integrations described in Sections 14 and 15. Unipile processes the account, email, and LinkedIn information necessary to provide these features on our behalf.

We use and pay for Apollo, a third-party professional-data and lead-enrichment provider, to help identify hiring managers and other professional contacts relevant to your job search, and to provide you with related professional contact information, such as a name, email address, or LinkedIn identifier. This information generally concerns third parties rather than you, and is provided to you as part of the networking features of the Services, subject to the terms of our arrangement with Apollo.

We use third-party job-data providers, including TheirStack and RapidAPI-connected data sources, to retrieve job-posting information, which we store internally to improve the speed and relevance of the job suggestions shown to you.

We use the following categories of third-party AI infrastructure and model providers to power the Services: infrastructure and third-party tool such as OpenRouter that routes resume and profile-processing requests to large language models operated by providers including Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI; chat-based AI features using models provided by Google and OpenAI; voice features provided by ElevenLabs; and video features provided by Google. These providers process information as necessary to provide the applicable AI functionality, subject to the contractual terms and data-processing arrangements applicable to our relationship with those providers. As described in Section 10, we use an internal data-selection layer intended to limit the categories of information submitted to these providers to what is necessary for the applicable functionality.

19A. Voice and Video Features

Certain features of the Services, such as interview practice, allow you to speak with or record video for an AI assistant. When you use these features, audio and, where applicable, video is transmitted to the AI providers described in Section 19 in order to generate a real-time response or transcript.

We do not create, capture, collect, or store a voiceprint, faceprint, scan of face or hand geometry, or any other biometric identifier or biometric information, and we do not use voice or video data to identify you. Audio and video are processed transiently to deliver the feature and are not retained by us after your session ends, other than any text transcript you choose to save to your profile.

We work with analytics and advertising partners, including Firebase, Meta, Google, and TikTok, to help us understand how the Services and our Website are used and to support our advertising activities. Depending on configuration, this may include information such as page or screen visits, aggregated usage statistics, and summaries of user sessions, as well as device and app-activity information. The specific data collected by each of these technologies depends on their configuration; we do not represent that any particular partner receives a specific data element (such as precise location or a particular device identifier) beyond what its configuration and applicable permissions allow.

We are not currently selling personal information for money. Separately from the concept of a "sale," certain advertising-related data sharing may constitute "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under certain U.S. state privacy laws, depending on how our advertising tools are configured. Where applicable, you have rights with respect to this activity, as described in Sections 27 and 28.

Our Website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate and improve the site. Within the App, similar identifiers may be used by the analytics and advertising technologies described in Section 20, subject to your device's permission settings. Where our use of these technologies requires tracking consent under Apple's App Tracking Transparency ("ATT") framework, we display an ATT prompt before engaging in the applicable tracking, consistent with Apple's requirements.

We retain your account and profile information while your Account remains active. If your Account is inactive for two years, we will delete the associated account data in accordance with our data retention practices.

If you delete your Account, we delete your account profile and associated history, except that your resume is retained. We retain resumes to provide and improve the Services, including to improve the recommendations, responses, and profile intelligence generated for our users, and because we are exploring functionality that may, in the future, help connect users with employers, as described in Section 5. Resume retention remains subject to applicable law and to the privacy rights described in Sections 24 and 27-31, including any applicable right to request deletion of your resume. We may also retain information for longer periods where necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, maintain security, or enforce our agreements.

When you disconnect a connected integration (Gmail, Calendar, or LinkedIn), we delete the applicable data obtained through that integration from our active systems, subject to the exceptions described above and to the limited period necessary for encrypted backup systems to reflect the deletion.

You may delete your Account at any time using the in-app account-deletion feature. Upon deletion, we delete your profile, onboarding responses, and usage history, other than your resume, as described in Section 22, and disconnect any connected third-party integrations. Copies of your information may persist temporarily in encrypted backups. Deleting your Account does not automatically cancel an active Subscription; you must separately cancel through your Apple ID settings.

Placed Today is based in the United States, and personal information we collect may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate, which may have data protection laws that differ from those of your country of residence. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards recognized under applicable law for cross-border transfers of personal information.

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The Services are not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. You must be at least 16 years old to create an Account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 16, we will take steps to delete it. Users between the ages of 16 and 17 may still be considered minors under the laws of their jurisdiction and may have additional protections available to them under applicable law.

If you reside in a U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law in effect, you may have rights to access, delete, correct, and port your personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising or the sale or sharing of personal information, subject to the requirements and exceptions of the applicable law. You may exercise these rights as described in Section 32.

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (the "CCPA"), gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; the right to delete personal information; the right to correct inaccurate personal information; the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

We do not sell personal information for money. As described in Section 20, certain advertising-related data sharing may constitute "sharing" under the CCPA. You may submit a CCPA request as described in Section 32; we will verify your request using information reasonably necessary to confirm your identity.

California Notice at Collection

This Notice at Collection is provided to California residents in accordance with the CCPA. It summarizes the categories of personal information we collect through the Services and the purposes for which we use them. It supplements, and should be read together with, the rest of this Privacy Policy.

This notice does not itself constitute your acceptance or acknowledgment of our data practices; where our chosen implementation requires a recorded acknowledgment (for example, at a specific point of collection within the App), that acknowledgment is obtained separately, as described in the App at the applicable time of collection.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict processing of your personal information, the right to data portability, the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our AI-driven recommendations, described in Section 10, are informational in nature; Placed Today does not use automated processing to make a decision producing a legal or similarly significant effect concerning you without your own decision-making role in whether and how to act on any recommendation.

If you are located in the United Kingdom, you have rights under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 corresponding to those described in Section 29, and may lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

If you are located in Canada, our handling of your personal information is subject to applicable Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and applicable provincial equivalents; you may request access to or correction of your personal information as described in Section 32.

If you are located in Australia, we handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), to the extent applicable to our organization; you may request access to or correction of your personal information, or raise a concern, as described in Section 32, and, if unresolved, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. If you are located in New Zealand, corresponding rights are available to you under the Privacy Act 2020, and you may contact the Office of the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner if a concern remains unresolved.

If you are a resident of Quebec, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector provides you with rights to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal information, to withdraw your consent, and to receive the computerized personal information you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used technological format.

Automated decision-making. Certain features of the Services generate recommendations, job suggestions, and career content using automated processing, as described in Section 10. These outputs are informational and are presented to you for your own decision. Placed Today does not use automated processing alone to make a decision that produces a legal effect concerning you or otherwise significantly affects you. If we introduce a feature that does so, we will inform you at the time the decision is made and, at your request, inform you of the personal information used, the principal factors and parameters that led to the decision, and your right to have that information corrected and to submit observations to a member of our personnel who is in a position to review the decision.

You can exercise many of your rights directly within the App, such as by editing your profile, disconnecting a connected account, or deleting your Account. To exercise other rights described in this Privacy Policy, please contact us at support@placed.today. We will respond to verifiable requests within the timeframe required by applicable law.

We will respond to a verifiable request within 45 days, and may extend that period by a further 45 days where reasonably necessary, in which case we will notify you. We may ask you for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity before actioning a request.

You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require the agent to provide proof of your written permission and may ask you to verify your identity directly.

Appeals. If we decline your request, you may appeal that decision by replying to our response or writing to privacy@placed.today with the subject line "Privacy Request Appeal." We will respond to your appeal within 45 days with a written explanation of our decision. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state Attorney General or applicable regulator.

The Services may contain links to or content from third-party websites and services, including job listings and learning content. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing them with information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App, by email, or by other reasonable means before the changes take effect.
